Prepare to be Bronzed | Top 5 Bronzers

How do you know which bronzer is right for you?  I think this mostly depends on what kind of a look you're going for.  You have to ask yourself what you want to get out of your bronzer, and what you plan on using it for.  Do you want to it to be matte or shimmery, cool-toned or warm-toned?  If used correctly you could get some great cheekbones or an awesome Victoria's Secret glow, but things could also take a turn for the worse and you could end up looking like Snooki's former fist-pumping self.  To help out, I thought I'd share some favorites!

Rimmel Natural Bronzer in Sun Bronze 022 : This was the first bronzer I ever purchased, and to this day I still use it as a part of my everyday routine.  I've hit pan on plenty of these packages and at $4.99 it's extremely affordable.  It comes in a few different shades and I know a couple of them have some shimmer in them, but I tend to stay away from too much shimmer.  Sub Bronze is the darkest shade and it is a warm toned, matte brown.  It works great for both contouring and if you're just added some color into your face.  This bronzer isn't extremely pigmented, which I actually like because it's buildable and you therefore don't run a high risk of over bronzing.

Sonia Kashuk Undetectable Creme Bronzer in Rich Bronze 42 : Creme bronzers are great if you want your focus to be on contouring.  You're able to use either a brush or your finger to place the bronzer just where you want it.  I've heard that this Sonia Kashuk Creme Bronzer is a great alternative for those of you that cannot afford Chanel's Soleil Tan de Chanel.  It goes on pretty slick, but sets as more of a powder.  It's pretty sheer so I tend to use it after I've used a bb cream or foudnation (I think it would be too sheer to show through if you were to use it first.)  Even though it is sheer, it's very buildable and easy to beldn just like the Rimmel bronzer.  They only have two shades (Rich Bronze is the darker shade), which isn't a great range, but I'm sure you could layer it up to become a shade that you like.  Because this bronzer is quite slick, I always set it with powder (which I do on a daily basis anyway) to ensure that it does not budge!  I also love the packaging, although it is quite large for the amount of product that you actually get.  However, it comes with a great mirror located under the product and an applicator sponge so it's great for on the go!

The Body Shop Honey Bronze Bronzing Powder in 04 Deep Matte : I picked this bronzer up after reading about it in EssieButton's August Favorites post. I think I was just intrigued by the cute packaging and nice honey comb design embedded into the bronzer itself.  Yes, I got sucked in by the marketing, but I'm happy I did!  This bronzer is a part of The Body Shop's newish Honey Bronze line which aims to bronze up both your face and body.  This is the darkest shade out of the four available, and it's important to point out that these shades come off light!  They are also all advertised as matte but they do have a tiny, tiny bit of shimmer, but it's barely noticeable once applied to the face so you could really use it as a contour or an all over bronzer.

Benefit Hoola : This is my all time favorite bronzer, especially for contouring.  It's more of a cooler shades that the others mentioned which makes a very natural shadow under your cheek bones and on your temples.  It comes with a small rectangular brush which i'm not a fan of because it doesn't blend out the product and the bristles are quite fine and flimsy.  This bronzer is so pigmented that you barely need any of it (be sure to tap off the excess back in the box!)  I've been using it regularly for quite a while now and I've only just started to make a dent, so I'm sure it's going to last a very long, making it well worth money.

NARS Laguna : Can we first just take a moment to pay some respect to NARS packaging?  I mentioned to my friend the other day (you know who you are!) that holding a NARS product gives me some weird sense of satisfaction.  It's just so sleek and smooth...  But anyway, onto the bronzer itself.  I can't say that this bronzer lived up to its hype that I've seen all over the internet, even though I do think it is a great product over all.  When you first open this brand new package it looks completely matte, but don't be fooled!!! This bronzer has the most shimmer I have ever seen in a bronzer.  I would never use it as a contour as it would come off so unnatural.  However, if you are looking for that great "just got back from a holiday in the Caribbean" glow, this is the product for you.  It's awesome if you brush a bit on your cheek bones, around the sides of your forehead and along your chin.

Hopefully that helps, and hopefully you find a bronzer that works for you!
