First Impression: Coastal Scents 10 Blush Palette

I've always been apprehensive about purchasing make up online.  Products never seem to look exactly realistic in photos which can sometimes be off-putting.  After several weeks of  debating with myself whether or not to purchase make up off the internet, I bit the bullet and bought the Coastal Scents 10 Blush Palette.

Coastal Scents products can only be bought online, which is unfortunate since they extremely affordable.  I actually decided to buy two of the blush palettes (one for myself and the other for my friend) off Amazon, as I had free shipping, but I know that the Coastal Scents often gives special discounts on different products on a weekly basis.  My package arrived days before expected which was great.  Each of the palettes were wrapped tightly in thick bubble wrap, which is also great because I thought that would ensure that the products would arrive safely.  However, one of the blushes in one of the palettes was completely shattered!  I knew this was possible, since any pressed powder can be easily broken.  I shipped it back to Amazon and they got another palette to me within 3 days that was in prime condition.

When I opened the palette, I was really pleased with the array of colors.  They vary from bright and muted pinks, to oranges, to browns. About half of the colors are matte, and the other half have shimmer in them, but they're not at all glittery so they are completely flattering on the cheeks.  I'm sure there is a blush color in this palette that could go with almost any look you are trying to achieve.  There is even a light taupe-y brown color that would be great for contouring on fair skin.  Although the color selection is great, the colors do not exactly match what was presented in pictures on the Coastal Scents website.  As I stated before, it is hard to capture make up products in their truest form, since lighting plays a huge factor, however I believe the photographs I took for this blog represents the colors more realistically.  In the photos on the websites, the brown colors came out more red, which I thought would suit my skin tone better, however after seeing the colors in real life, they are definitely brown.  I'm not sure how those colors will work out as a blush, and since a one of them has shimmer I probably won't make much use of it as a bronzer either.  Even though that was slightly disappointing, the majority of the colors are extremely pleasing.

Not only are these palettes extremely affordable (I think they're about $15.00), they are pretty great quality as well.  The powders have extremely opaque pigmentation and fairly standard lasting power.  I wouldn't say they last all day and all night, but they definitely last all day.  You only need to use a small amount as the color pay-off is amazing, so I can tell this palette will last me a really long time.  They are also easy to blend so you won't end up with bright streaks of color across your face.  Not to mention it is very handy having this wide range of colors in a single palette.

Coastal Scents makes a ton of different palettes in addition to this one.  I know they've come out with a newer blush palette that has some cooler toned colors, as well as a ton of different eye shadow palettes that contain every color under the sun!  Overall this was pretty great experience, even though one of the blushes was broken when it first arrived.  It's really easy to get it replaced and my orders came very quickly.  Besides, the price of the product and the excellent quality were worth the little extra hassle.
